From Coyote Blog comes this map:

In this map, the names of the states have been replaced by countries with the same gross domestic product. That gives us my neighbor, Texas, making the same money as the entire nation of Canada, California the same as France, in more ways than one, and Illinois doing as much as Mexico.
That, dear readers, is a key to a lot of anti-American sentiment: it’s just really easy to fall into jealousy.
All those tree-huggers oohing and cooing about how Ghana’s people live so close to nature don’t want to admit that 95% of Ghanaians would give a left arm to live the same lifestyle as America’s “poor”. I hesitate to use the term “poor” to describe what America’s social engineers refer to as “poor” because America’s poor often have color TV and automobiles, and “hunger” isn’t as big a problem with them as obesity is…
America is still a great country despite the Left’s proclivities for wealth redistribution. That’s because this country has wealth to redistribute. Our “poor” often have a better lifestyle than the middle class in many European countries, not to mention how they fare among Third-World countries.
Compared to a third-world subsistence farmer spending his days slogging through mud, staring at the south end of a north-bound water buffalo to grow the food his family eats, an eight-hour shift at McDonald’s is a walk in the park.
It’s like that because America is a wealthy nation. Tennessee = Saudi Arabia… Oh, yeah!
And Coyote Blog is now on the blogroll..
Dang! That’s one very interesting map. “Tennessee= Saudi Arabia”! Wow!
But New Jersey=Russia? I knew it all along! Politically as well as $$$.
