It was eighty-one degrees at 0800 this morning. We’ve been in the nineties all week, with heat indices well over a hundred. I have begun my summer routine, a series of dashes from one air-conditioned oasis to the next.
Walked out into the humdity, yada-yada…
Today is celebrated as Father’s Day, a day of great confusion in some quarters. UPDATE! Z-Man has a post.
…
Jerry Springer Nation is the end point for all of it.
Opened up the paper, found that the big hospital across the river is reporting forty-nine new babies from between May 11 and June 3. Pointing to the demise of the foundations of civilization, twenty-seven of those are to unwed parents and three new mommies don’t have a good enough clue for a name to report a baby daddy at all.
Let us sally forth:
Miss Tamaroz(! is that supposed to be like ‘Tama-rose’ or ‘Tomorrows’ or why should we even care?) W. presents us with little girl Neveah, which we’ve all been told innumerable times, is ‘heaven’ spelled backwards. If we want to spell tags backward, I submit ‘ssabmud’.
Timothy T. & Tijee(!) H. get into the trydeigh with their son Traelyn Wayne.
Mark W. & Temica(!) P. drop a daughter, little Malania Amore, because, you know, ‘amore’ was involved in the conception. Or a quart of malt liquor and a fine car…
Nicholas M. & Raemontrinique(!!!) W. present their son Noah Ray. The son’s name is unremarkable, but I can’t make myself pass up “Raemontrininque”. I mean FOURTEEN letters! Could you?
Miss Kendra C. drops a son, little Kayceon Devon.
George H. & Britoya(!) E. triple up on a daughter, little Jahsiah Carter Renigh.
Riggin G. & Tristan B. do up a son with Rowelston Wayne.
Miss Marquetta J. trots out her son, Mason Maliq, because the way Obama’s pushing things something that sounds Arabic is gonna be a big plus.
Bringing some punctuation into the picture because we all KNOW that truly sophisticated people have punctuation in their names, Gregory R. & Bertha M. do up their daughter with Da’Layjiah Janette.
James ‘n’ Halie L. give their son two of those oh so manly single syllable names, Kase Jax. Sounds like something you’d use to load a truck. “Hey, Bubba! Bring them kase jax over here for this big box!”
Ryan O. & Kennesha(!) M. do a daughter with Kaylani Paige.
Ryder O. & Shelby S. tag their daughter with Charli Brooke, giving her a lifetime of deciding whether to dot that ‘i’ with a circle, a heart, a star, or, for business purposes, a plain ol’ dot.
Grant ‘n’ Kayla C. name their son Jackson Gregory, leading us to wonder who ‘Jack’ is and why these people named a baby after him.
And that’s it for this fine week. You people be careful out there.
