Two years ago, AcidMan, Rob Smith, of Gut Rumbles passed away. Reading Gut Rumbles was one of the things that got me into blogging myself.
Rob Smith was one of the true characters of a goodly part of the blog community. I still visit his site frequently just to read over his old stuff, and others do too, because I still get hits that started out on his blog.
Yeah, I miss his stuff. Nobody could piss off more people all at once, and nobody kept them hooting and wondering what he was going to come up with in the very next post. Sometimes we visited like people driving by a car wreck, just to see if there were any gooshy parts showing. But we visited.
There are plenty of good bloggers still out here, but there is only on Acid Man.
man, has it really been 2 whole years? wow, well i guess so, in that time i have changed jobs 3 times and moved 600 miles from the town i grew up in…
i used to read Rob’s blog every day and was deeply saddened to hear of his passing. what was especially sad was how suddenly it happened.
anyways, i know hes out there somewhere, kicking back, enjoying a strong drink, and telling a story full of cuss words…
yep, I reckon Rob got a lot people started blogging…and I am one of them. I had the chance to meet him a few months before he died. Catfish hosted a mini blog meet at Catfish manor…Rob was actually a quiet type..of course he was sober at the time..and I enjoyed talking to him..
I still go by gut rumbles some myself. I get a kick out of just rambling through his archives.
Amazing thing: according to sitemeter, Rob’s words still draw over 500 visitors a day.
I’m just glad that someone is still paying to make sure his site stays online.
