For years I’ve answered the question “What do YOU invest in?” with “Precious metals. You know, like brass, lead, copper…” which gets me strange looks from some and knowing head bobs from others.
So, okay, a couple of months ago I bought another thousand rounds of 5.56 ammo for the bevy of AR platforms. $335.
I can only WISH my 401k did as well as that case of ammo did in the last few weeks. Go to Gunbroker. Eeek!
Worse than that, I have stuff I’ve ‘accumulated’ over the years that’s appreciated MORE than that.
Sell? Old adage adapted for modern times: “Guns’ll get you through times of no money better’n money’ll get you through times of no guns.”
No kiddin’! Good luck finding any .223/5.56 ammo (Other than high end, $25.00+/box stuff). Same same with those evil black “Assault” rifles. Maybe I shouldn’t have let my son shoot up so much ammo the other day.
Cheers,
Mark
I paid $300 for 500 rounds .223 yesterday at the Ft. Worth Gun Show. What scares me is there are a lot of people buying guns and ammo and those people have no clue what they just bought. The AR-15 platforms were running between $2k and $3k with no magazines nor ammo. These people are getting a fancy, black gun and won’t be able to shoot it.
The Mrs. and I home-brew. It’s amazing what you can barter a couple good bottles of booze for.
