Another reason to celebrate.
On this date in 1911, John M. Browning got the patent for the pistol we used as tank crewmen. I still have an example. In today’s world of ‘plastic fantastics’ and Euro-pellets, a man who owns this pistol in STILL not poorly armed.
I don’t have a M-1911 45, hard to find one I can afford that ain’t wore out. But I fell in love with the frame, the design, and the cartridge in Nam, so I invested in a S&W M&P in 45. Not quite the same, but close enough to suit me.
I started out with a $600 Springfield GI 1911 and got hooked. My wife and I now own many different brands and not a sour one in the bunch.
