It being that time of the year, I humbly tender the following:
A couple was doing last minute shopping on Christmas Eve. Walking through the mall the wife looked up and noticed her husband was no where around. She became very upset.
She called her husband to ask where he was.
The husband said “Honey remember the jewelery store we went into five years ago, where you fell in love with that diamond necklace that we could not afford and I told you that I would get it for you one day?”
The wife, crying, said “Yes, I remember”.
“Well, I’m in the bar next to that jewelery store.”
1903 – The Wright Brothers make their first powered and heavier-than-air flight in the Wright Flyer at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina.
1935 – First flight of the Douglas DC-3 airplane. Over 16,000 were built under various licenses. It was the “C-47” workhorse of WW II and they’re still in service around the world to this day.
1957 – The United States successfully launched the first Atlas intercontinental ballistic missile in Cape Canaveral, Florida. “reach out and touch someone”.
1969 – Project Blue Book: The USAF closes its study of UFOs, stating that sightings were generated as a result of “A mild form of mass hysteria, Individuals who fabricate such reports to perpetrate a hoax or seek publicity, psychopathological persons, and misidentification of various conventional objects.” Ever notice how the frequency of UFO sightings went down with the advent of cheap video and digital cameras?
1999 – The United Nations General Assembly passes resolution 54/134 designating November 25 as the annual International Day to Eliminate Violence Against Women. That is, of course, unless they’re Muslim and then it’s a matter of religious preference.
